Profile Description

Lost and Found is located within a Grade II listed building on Bennetts Hill which has been transformed into a whimsical world known as
The Lost & Found, a restaurant and quirky bar.

As you explore The Lost and Found you find yourself beneath a canopy of plants, lit birdcages and captured butterflies. The grade II listed building dates back to 1869, just two years after Hettie was born.

The Lost and Found consists of a huge floor to ceiling botanical library with dim lit library lamps lacing the long tables. Adjoining the library is the boardroom where Hettie would gather her fellow professors and guests to trade and educate on her findings. A world map fills the boardroom scattered with postcards of her delights which pin point each plant to its point of origin, some postcards being so small that you require one of Hettie’s vintage magnifying glasses to read them.

Moving through to The Dining Room, which consists of an apothecary style wall of up lit jars each containing an individual flower, cut glass decanter lights compliment the glass jars and create a warm glow in this space. Hettie invites her guests to sample the delicacies she has uncovered.

The main wall of Hettie’s Institute of Botanics is adorned with a giant vertical wall garden, home to a projection of animated butterflies wander through the bar and on route to the lavatories you will find yourself immersed in an aviary of birds flying above your head.

Throughout the interior you can find hints to the location of a secret hideaway and also imagery of Hettie herself through bespoke wall coverings and fabrics. Beneath the key sits a bookcase which you must slip behind unnoticed to discover Hettie’s secret emporium. A bespoke wallpaper flecked with gold leaf envelops the room and gives a dark and cosy feeling to those lucky enough to discover it.
