Fresh fruit and veg are delivered every morning and they turn them into tasty salads and hot dishes. The cooking team keep the menu seasonal and interesting by varying the salad mixes and specials daily. Their pies are really popular and available all day as are the soups and stews. Cakes are homemade by two local bakers – try Liz’s banana, chocolate & walnut cake and now legendary Guinness cake, both are delicious.
The head barista is Jaanus Savisto and he works obsessively to ensure that every cup of coffee that they serve is truly special. They use Square Mile coffee because they’re dedicated to quality, they’re down the road and they just like them. They have smoothies, fresh juices, wine and BEER (a great selection of mostly london brewed craft beers which include Beavertown, Partizan and Kernel. They also have regular guest beers).
There is a small workshop upstairs and a larger fully functioning ‘uber’ workshop downstairs. Sam, Nik, Dave, Seb and Steve look after everything mechanical. Lots of repairs can be done on the same day but it’s worth calling in advance.
They also offer basic bicycle maintenance courses every month. Now that’s a number of very quirky things to attract those of you looking for something a little different.
I don’t even own a bike but the passion for cycling and the promise of fun that is offered whilst frequenting this café/bike repair shop almost makes me feel like buying one.
