The Crafty Camping site is a great venue for a group to meet up and enjoy themselves. You can hire all the accommodation as a block booking and enjoy exclusive use of all the facilities – it’s a superb way to have a holiday with friends/family. However, the minimum age on site is 16.
There are a total of seven tents (one is a shepherd’s hut), each with a king sized bed, so the site is suitable for a maximum of seven singles or 14 if couples.
It is possible to add extra camp beds in the larger tents (up to six in total) if necessary. However, these do not offer anything like the same level of comfort or any of the linen, bedding, towels etc, which those on camp beds have to bring with them. There is a charge of £10 per camp bed per night for additional camp beds.
Please note that for those wanting to book more than three tents, groups have to book all seven tents. This is in consideration of other individual guests who may feel overwhelmed if sharing the site with a large group – essentially the site works best for seven separate couples or for a whole site booking, and not much in-between.
The shared facilities really come into their own for whole site bookings when you can enjoy exclusive use of the fully equipped ‘Out of Africa’ Field Kitchen and wood fired pizza oven, the sauna yurt and the communal yurt – which makes a great space for all to congregate and enjoy all of the board games and a full sized roulette table, not to mention the hat collection …
Catering can be arranged at additional cost, as can extras such as a barrel of local Otter Ale or a case of local ‘Black Cow Vodka’ for those Bloody Mary mornings.
As well as the private facilities provided with each tent, everyone enjoying the luxury camping also has:
Use of our wonderful woven willow showers, washing and (flushing) toilet facilities – shared by the three bell tents. (The yurts, tipi and shepherd’s hut each have their own private facilities, including individual showers.)
Use of the ‘Out of Africa’ field kitchen. This has gas rings, an oven, hot water and a washing-up sink, a hand-washing sink, cold mains-fed drinking water, cutlery, crockery, tea cups and glasses and cooking utensils and recycling, compost and landfill dustbins.
Use of our ‘sauna-in-a-yurt’.
Use of a wood fired pizza oven – you can’t beat a freshly made pizza! (Split/dry firewood can be purchased on site for firing the oven.)
Use of a freezer for cold packs, and shared use of the field kitchen refrigerator.
Use of a central communal yurt, which has sofas, a fire and a range of games, a library of green woodworking and craft books and a library of craft DVDs, along with local information (and our shop).
